Magnum PI & Da Big Island

The Friday before last I was at a Magnum PI themed birthday party. It was a really good time. People turned 30, we drank some home brew, and dressed up like we were rockin' the 80s. When I found out about the party my only answer was, "I'm in: all in."

Note the mullet, painted mustache, pink shirt (tucked in, buttons half-way down), tight pants, and a brown belt. After a couple of home brews, Tara called me from Colorado and told me that I should visit her on the Big Island the following weekend. Great idea! She was my first roommate out here and we had a lot of fun.

This past weekend I flew to the Big Island to hang out with Tara and some of her family (Ohana to us Hawaiians) and old friends from work. We had some good times. We stayed in Kona the whole time. It just so happened to be Kona Brewing Company's Beer Festival that Saturday. The tickets were sold out, but we took the tour instead. Free mini beers. Can't go wrong.

It turns out that the Big Island has a huge Crytsal Meth problem. Add that to the beer festival, and you will have some issues. We actually go attacked by a skinhead girl named Beau. She was crazy. And hateful.

All in all it was a good weekend. Nothing too crazy happened (no blood from the ice-head), but there was a lot of eating, talking, and just bumming around. Sometimes, that's all a weekend should be.

By the way, the picture below is of my old roommate Tara and the 5 year old son of one of her friends. His name was Brennan and he loved turtles. Despite our efforts, we were not able to locate any turtles. We did find some geckos though. Those are fun as well.
