Waimea Bay
Today Danny and I headed up to the North Shore. It was pretty nice, to say the least. They had the best beaches up there. We actually went to three. My favorite was Waimea Bay. It had a ton of sand (volleyball anyone?), great water depth for swimming and splashing, and a 30' rock to drop off of. I jumped off the high rock, but it took me about 30 minutes to work up the nerve. That and getting insulted by 8 year olds gave me the motivation to jump. I'm not gonna lie: I'm afraid of heights.

Drinking and Floating
Today we took two boats out to the sandbar with 15 people. It was a pretty good time. We had some problems with anchoring at one point, but we were able to swim back to the boat (eventually) and get the sails up just before we hit the reef. After we were safely on the boat looking at where we started the chase from, we realized just how dumb we (read: I) were (was). I tried to plant the anchor in 5 feet of water after the boat started sailing away, but it didn't grab the sand. After it didn't grab, it just dangled in the 80 feet of water below while the wind took our ride away from us. In the future I think I will just hold onto the line and pull myself in with that. Way smarter than chasing a 27' boat 200 meters into the bay without a flotation device. I am not a swimmer.
San Diego
I was in San Diego for the past week. I was learning how to be a better office drone. Not too much fun. On the plus side, I did get an even greater appreciation for Hawaii. I used to think California was really nice, but not compared to Hawaii it's not. Off to my left in this pic (screen right) were two people having sex. It was a bit odd. There were kids around an everything. No shame.

To the Sandbar
Next weekend we are taking out the big boat by ourselves. It should be a good time. Something about having an enclosure that moves on water is very appealing to me. It's like a floating tree fort. Growing up, I had neither an enclosed tree fort nor a large body of water. Now I have both; sort of (but not really).
Queso!
Even married couples have fun sailing. Last weekend I played the part of the third wheel (again), but it was a good time. At least for me it was. There was a small problem with our boat, so I spent half of the time bailing water to keep us from sinking. On the way back I stood on the rails up at the bow. It was really cool. By doing so, you can see straight down into the water (with polarized glasses). The glare you seen when you are sitting is not there when you stand. Something to keep in mind.

Sushi and 40s
This was a Sunday evening a couple of weeks back. Hawaii has a wide variety of Sushi and it is pretty much all good. We were still recooperating from our 10 mile trail run, so we decided to do some carb loading (malt liquor) and hits of protein (raw fish). It was a good time.
Cockroaches
This is a somewhat local surf spot we went to for a couple of hours. It was cold, windy, and wet. Not very Hawaii like weather at all.
Danny here went for a swim (with his goggles, of course), but I just sat in a ball with my sweatshirt hood on and the front of it stretched over my legs. It had to have been like 65 degrees. I didn't think it got that cold in Hawaii, but you learn something new every day.

Barber's Point Picnic
I've been a bit lazy lately. In my defense, I have been home very little. Here are a couple of weeks worth of posts, coming up.
This is our picnic site at Barber's Point. It was a good day. We did some surfing, met some new people, and I brought some brats for everyone who did not have the privelage of growing up in Wisconsin. The brats were supposedly Johnsonville (which is reputable), but they were overly processed. They were sort of like brats, but not exactly. I'm not sure what was going on.
